So this is my first blog here, even though I've had this account for a long time. I'm not usually a blogger. I spend my time drawing, animating, and editing things. Something has come up to motivate me to actually blog. Be warned- I am NOT a professional writer! haha! So my sentences, and punctuation may not be correct...it is what it is. On to the important stuff!
Anyone who loves horror movies should be familiar with George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. I actually know people who hate horror movies who are still familiar with the film. That's the power of Night of the Living Dead. In the first scene of the movie, Johnny and Barbra are in a cemetery- the Evans City Cemetery in Evans City, PA to be exact. In the background, there is a chapel with boards on the windows. The chapel may have been boarded up in 1967 when NOTLD was shot, but now it is practically falling down. It looked a lot better back then!
The city council wanted to demolish the chapel- that is until Gary Streiner, the sound engineer for the movie, stepped up and convinced them that the chapel should be preserved, as it is a part of cinematic history. It's also a part of Evans City's history. Now Gary, along with the support of cast and crew members, fans, and yes- George A. Romero himself, are trying to raise money to help restore this cinematic icon. We are trying to spread the word to as many people as possible!
There are so many great people involved in this effort! Including Ms. Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc, who is an author of lots of awesome books , as well as a blogger here. (http://advanscoyoc.blogspot.com/) She is donating 50% of her book sales to the chapel fund! Thank you Andrea!
Not only can you donate dollars, but you can also donate by buying Andrea's books, and awesome art by Terry Callen on hoodies and t-shirts! There are also E-bay art auctions for the cause where buying something cool, and zombified goes to help save the chapel. ANY amount of help is appreciated! Even just posting links on your websites and pages is a great help! Here are some links to visit and post- website for the cause: http://www.fixthechapel.com/ the official facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/savethechapel and our YouTube page http://www.youtube.com/user/ghoulswithtools , where you can find videos of people's efforts to save the chapel. We also have an official animated newscast for the effort- The Corpse O' Clock News http://www.youtube.com/user/corpseoclocknews
I have to go now. I hope this at least motivates a few people to check everything out. If I could have made this more eloquent or entertaining I would've...hahaa! Have a great holiday! Happy whatever-you-happen-to-celebrate!
